1 Mission: Yoga Legislation

Why Yoga Legislation is Urgently Needed

Comprehensive legislation is essential to protect the integrity of yoga and ensure its authentic practice across India

Stop Yoga Defaming

Multiple complaints pending in AYUSH ministry under Media Cell due to lack of laws to prevent defamation of yoga in media, advertisements, and inappropriate representations like "Nude Yoga" and "Porn Yoga".

Yoga Gradation System

Establish a proper grading system for yoga students in schools and colleges to recognize and certify their skills at different levels, similar to belt systems in martial arts.

Registration of Professionals

Mandatory registration of UGC degree holders as certified yoga professionals to ensure only qualified individuals practice and teach yoga, similar to medical professionals.

Yoga Teacher Policy

Create national policy to recruit qualified yoga teachers in schools, colleges with minimum salary standards and clear career progression pathways.

Stop Non-Professionals

Prevent unqualified individuals from entering the yogic field through strict entry barriers based on UGC-approved degrees only.

Safety and Security

Ensure physical and emotional safety of yoga students and practitioners through regulated practices and certified professionals only.

National Yoga Sports Authority

Establish a national authority under Sports Ministry to regulate yoga sports and competitions with standardized rules, grading systems, and national championships.

Yogic Research Department

Create separate yoga research departments in all universities dealing with yoga, independent from Physical Education or Ayurveda departments, with dedicated funding.

Common Yoga Syllabus

Implement a single standardized yoga syllabus for all schools and colleges across India with uniform fee structure to ensure equal access to quality yoga education.

How YCB Ruins the Future of Yoga

The Yoga Certification Board system undermines authentic yoga education and creates unqualified practitioners

The YCB Crisis

The Yoga Certification Board (YCB) system allows non-degree holders to become certified yoga teachers through short-term courses, completely bypassing the rigorous UGC-approved degree programs. This creates:

  • Unqualified practitioners teaching yoga
  • Dilution of authentic yoga knowledge
  • Safety risks to students
  • Undermining of legitimate yoga degree holders
  • Commercialization of yoga certification
"YCB certification is like giving a driver's license to someone who has only watched driving videos on YouTube. Yoga needs proper education, not shortcuts that endanger practitioners and dilute our ancient wisdom." - Yogacharya Viney Pushkarna, Founder Yog Front & YOGX

Political Opposition & Challenges

Major political parties have failed to support authentic yoga legislation

Aam Aadmi Party's Yogashala

AAP's Yogashala project creates further confusion by promoting non-standardized yoga education without proper degree requirements, contradicting the need for qualified professionals.

Congress Party's Silence

Despite our repeated appeals, Congress party has not raised the yoga legislation matter in parliament or shown any support for regulating yoga education and practice.

Media Blackout

We have written to all major media channels about yoga legislation, but no one covers this matter due to fear of government backlash and political pressure.
